Lac Hong university shares practical experience at international workshop on data-driven quality assurance

On July 7–8, 2026, the Center for Education Accreditation under Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City organized an international workshop titled “Enhancing Institutional Effectiveness through Data-driven Quality Assurance: International Practices and Applications in Viet Nam.”

The workshop brought together prominent education experts and administrators from Vietnam and abroad, including Dr. Ashim Malhotra, Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Accreditation; Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Chuong, Director General of the Department of Quality Management under Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Ngoc Quynh Lam, Director of the Center for Education Accreditation under Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Van Thuyen, Vice Chair of the AUN-QA Council. The event was also attended by university leaders and quality assurance officers from higher education institutions across Vietnam.

As one of the higher education institutions invited to share practical experience, Lac Hong University presented the data-driven quality management model that it has developed and implemented in recent years.

During the panel discussion titled “Readiness for Practical Implementation,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Thanh Hien, Rector of Lac Hong University, shared the University’s journey from conducting quality assurance primarily to meet accreditation requirements to adopting data-driven university governance. Under this approach, data is used not only for assessment but also as a foundation for strategic planning, decision-making, performance monitoring and the development of a culture of continuous improvement across the University.

In addition to the panel discussion, Lac Hong University’s thematic presentations attracted considerable interest from participating delegates.

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Phuong Truong, Head of the Testing and Quality Assurance Office, delivered a presentation titled “Evidence-Based Reporting and Closing the Improvement Loop.” The presentation introduced a model for developing an integrated reporting system using multiple data sources, ensuring that all conclusions and decisions are supported by evidence. Improvement outcomes are also monitored throughout the PDCA cycle—Plan, Do, Check and Act—allowing improvement activities to be continuously reviewed, evaluated and refined rather than being conducted only for accreditation purposes.

    presents “Evidence-Based Reporting and Closing the Improvement Loop.”

    Dr. Tran Thanh Phuong, Deputy Head of the Academic Affairs Office, delivered a presentation titled “Dashboard Design and Data Visualization.” The presentation shared Lac Hong University’s experience in developing a visual dashboard system that integrates data from multiple units and enables university leaders and departments to monitor key performance indicators in real time. Data visualization supports the early detection of trends, the identification of emerging issues and faster, more accurate decision-making.

    presents “Dashboard Design and Data Visualization.”

    Ms. Ngo Dinh Hoang Diem, Deputy Head of the Testing and Quality Assurance Office, delivered a presentation titled “Designing Quality Indicators Based on Development Strategy.” The presentation introduced a method for developing a KPI system derived from the University’s strategic objectives and closely aligned with its quality goals, accreditation standards and unit-level action plans. The indicator system not only measures progress in implementing the University’s strategy but also provides a basis for monitoring operational effectiveness, evaluating results and supporting data-driven improvement.

    Lac Hong University’s presentations generated significant interest and discussion among the experts and delegates attending the workshop. The University’s practical experience demonstrates that developing a data ecosystem comprising quality indicators, management dashboards and evidence-based reporting systems can do more than meet quality accreditation requirements. It can also improve the effectiveness of university governance, promote evidence-based decision-making and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Lac Hong University’s invitation to present at the international workshop further affirms its position in the field of higher education quality assurance. The event also provided an opportunity for the University to share effective governance models with higher education institutions in Vietnam and abroad.
